For the Spilt Wine and the Tainted

What had happened on the 23th Day of August was indeed tragic. I was monitoring the live broadcast since the time I’ve arrived from school. Not every detail was clear to me and not everything that happened I understood. I’m just a mere 15 year old. But I assure you, I certainly know how much the value of life is: it is unpayable.

I stayed calm as I watched the scenes play out of the movie screen. Fear and worry started to run down my spine, realizing that everything that was occurring was not scripted nor was it played by mere actors. It was reality. As the situation started to heat up, I noticed that tears began to roll down from my eyes. At first, I wasn’t sure whether it was because of fear, anxiety or whatever.

“This type of scenario can happen everywhere.”-- I don’t think this is an excuse. I believe the country’s police could have done better, if only the situation was rethought. “There is no perfect person.” – Yes, there isn’t. But a certain person could at least try to be close to perfect, especially in a case like this. “Do not go to the Philippines, it’s dangerous!” – I do not want to be judged because of one mistake by another. “Filipinos are trash!” – We are NOT. My country is made up of remarkable people, strong-willed and faithful; we know how to give love and importance.

No sane person wanted that to happen! I never dreamt of my country being popular because of so many negative reasons. I never dreamt of being looked down upon.

I find it inevitable that people overseas, mainly HK, would feel anger and hatred, and I accept that. I just hope that our countries would remain as friends despite the matter and that this would not lead to any more problems that might end up with something worse.

I’m not taking sides. I am just expressing my thoughts and concerns about the issues. I took aside the nationality & race of the people involved, may it be Filipino or Chinese or anyone else; all I want is justice to be proven!

Instead of playing the blame-game for now, let us leave everything to the authorities.

I may not be able to speak in behalf of my countrymen. I may not be able to speak in behalf of the Philippine president, nor the Philippine National Police, but I am greatly asking for China’s forgiveness. I know “Forgiveness” is a very strong word, especially in a situation like this. I am not expecting an immediate answer nor maybe an answer at all.

I know HongKong is having a hard time accepting what had occurred, ofcouse us as well. I would want to extend my deepest concerns and respect. I want to let you know that The Philippines mourns with you.
