Radicalism is dangerous regardless of the source, and recently there have been a lot of radical ideas and stances being taken by Congressional candidates. Most of the radicalism has been coming from Tea Party members or extremists from both the Republican and Democrat parties. One example of radical behavior has recently surface in the Alaska Congressional race between sitting Congresswoman Lisa Murkowski (R) who is running against Joe Miller, a West Point grad who vows to eliminate Social Security, Medicare, and other so called "entitlement programs" that many Americans don't want touched.
Murkowski in what is viewed as a radical move, broke ranks with her own Republican party and choose to be a write-in candidate when her party wouldn't support her re-election race, which put her seat on a Congressional committee at risk. The Republican party is pushing to remove Murkowski from that committee.
Meanwhile the radical views of Joe Miller to eliminate Social Security and other entitlement programs that provide assistance to many Americans, particularly the elderly and disabled seem to be supported by many Alaskan voters. Miller's views are radical because of his vow to eliminate programs Americans benefit from rather than focusing on billions spent on foreign aid, the running of two wars, and the billions being wasted on other programs that provide absolutely nothing on the home-front for Americans struggling just to survive today's bad economy. Obviously, radical or extremism in candidates elected by angry voters could do more harm than good, so it would be wise if voters become more cautious of who they are putting into office!
