Arizona Criminal Attorney David Cantor talks about Ankle Bracelets and there use in Arizona Law Enforcement. He discusses the newer GPS technology and the older radio based technology. With the new GPS the bracelets can be monitored anywhere in the world, whereas the radio bracelets only identify if they are at home. This is important news as a purported child pornography suspect Doctor Emilio Luna was being held on pre trial services custody. He was issued a radio bracelet and was allowed to visit church. After he did not return home from the alloted time issued for his visit the radio bracelet notified his pre trial services officer contacted his family and left it up to his family to contact the police about his missing location. Since the radio bracelet was out of its home range the police have not been able to identify the Doctor's location. Chris Thomas of GPS Technology and a member of Probation Monitoring Services of Arizona points out that with GPS bracelets they could have looked into the situation much faster and more accurately.
