The Waxing Crescent Moon and Venus

If you look to the western skies tonight, right after sunset, you will see the Waxing Crescent Moon and Venus, our sister planet. Called sister because its size is very near that of our planet. Venus is the second planet from the sun with temps near 900 F and at its nearest to Earth, it is about 24 million miles away with an atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface that is 92 times that of the Earth. When it reaches the other side of the sun from us, it will be about 162 million miles away.

Tonight about a half hour after sunset is the best and last time you will get the chance to see Venus and the Moon together in the celestial dance until next year.
