Fashion Photographer Markus Klinko Accused of Making Perjurious Statements at a Federal Court in an Apparent Attempt to Distance Himself from a Campaign Created to Damage Mexican Born Actress Fernanda Romero
September 8, 2010 - NEW YORK, September 8 -- Fashion Photographer Markus Klinko is being sued by his former lawyer Anthony LoPresti for allegedly committing perjury in a Federal case that ended so far in mistrial for Mexican actress Fernanda Romero and musician Kent Ross who are being accused of entering a fraudulent marriage for the sole purpose of obtaining a green card.
Mr. LoPresti says that the photography star has lied to Federal Authorities and publicly by absolving his responsibility from the actions that lead to the prosecution of Fernanda Romero and Kent Ross. Klinko claims that he never intended to have Fernanda Romero, his alleged ex-girlfriend prosecuted by Federal and immigration authorities, instead he blames Mr. LoPresti for creating the entire plan.
The evidence presented by Mr. LoPresti is a series of e-mails that if proven to be true in fact depict Markus Klinko as the main instigator of the criminal investigation that lead to the arrest and Federal prosecution of the Mexican actress. These, also link several of the witnesses that took the stand recently against Ms. Romero and Mr. Ross, raising speculation that the entire case was based on his supposed lies.
Vincent Parco, the private investigator that assisted Klinko during the law-suit against Rock & Republic which implicated Ms. Romero declared under penalty of perjury that Klinko's obession to hurt Fernanda Romero "reached a point whereby almost all of our communications were about his goal to have Ms. Romero arrested and deported." "Worse yet, he stated clearly to me that he wanted any "dirt" I could find to discredit her and ruin her career", said Mr. Parco.
In an apparent response to these accusations Klinko states that he "never sought to have Fernanda Romero criminally prosecuted or deported" but that it is actually Mr. LoPresti who "has made these allegations in a underhanded attempt to pressure Klinko into dismissing this adversary proceeding."
The outcome will highly impact the Federal case against Fernanda Romero and Kent Ross since so far Markus Klinko is the government's primary witness in the case. The government also claims and supports the idea that Mr. Klinko did not have intentions of any kind when it came to reporting Fernanda Romero to Immigration authorities for allegedly marrying Kent Ross only for the purpose of obtaining a green card. If Mr. Klinko is found to have committed perjury he could face up to 5 years in prison for each count.
