I lost my son, SSG Kristopher Allan Higdon in May of 07. It has been a very devastating journey. gut wrenching, heartbreaking and hopelessness! I have 4 boys and Kris was the oldest ! He played soccer for Permian High School and was in ROTC. Kris joined before graduating in 99. He was 17 when he went in right before walking across the stage with his fellow classmates. Kris loved everything to do with weapons and the ARmy. Yes, he had some times that were very tough but he was wanting an adventure! His eyes would light up everytime we asked him his job or about what he was doing. Britt is my second to the oldest and took Kris' death extremely hard. They were very close and had a very close friendship , as well. They fought growing up but like other siblings got closer as Kris was living in other states. Kris told britt in March of 07 before leaving for Iraq that he wanted Britt to sign up for the Army when he came back from Iraq at the end of his upcoming tour. Britt promised that he would. After our loss Britt told me that a promise was a promise and that he promised his brother that he would indeed join upon Kris' arrival to the states. Britt joined in October of 2007. His journey has been hard but helps him in filling the shoes of his older brother. He is a Hero to me because he pushes himself to do the very best ! He is deployed to Iraq and will not return until December. Thank you ! Would love to hear from you and tell you more..,
