I solute my husband, Adrian Guzman, for all that he has given up to serve our country. While he was on this deployment (his second deployment), he missed the birth of our daughter, his first born. He works long hours, starting with getting out of bed at 3 am and not returning home until nearly 8pm... sometimes later. Though he works these long hours, he makes it a point to be the one to tuck our children in and read them their story.
During this deployment, my husband and the troops with him were the first team of Air Force Security Forces to secure the outside perimeter of Balad Air Base. These brave men trained with the Army Soldiers who filled the position before them. They were in trucks for 12-72 hours at a time completing missions that no Air Force group has ever done before.
I chose to show you this video because although my husband is my hero, he is far from the only hero in my life. Everyone he works with has kept him alive, just as he has done for them. This solute goes out to all of SFS Elite from 2008-2009 Balad Air Base Iraq. Thank you for your service and thank you for allowing my husband to come home and meet his daughter.
