Recently, Tha Art Institutes Facebook site has been under attack by Mike DiaGiacomo of Boston, Mass. He has been telling people on the site not to attend the colleges due to his experiences at NEIA. His information and agruement has been one-sided and of dubious nature. Upon closer investigation into the credibility of his statements, I did a Google search for him in Boston. What I got was a link to CNN.com in which the following statement appears:
Mike DiGiacomo graduated with a graphics design
degree from Gibbs College, owing more than $30,000
in federal student loans and tens of thousands of
do...llars in private student loans -- a sum he's finding
almost impossible to pay off with his $31,000-a-year
job at a FedEx Office store in a Boston, Massachusetts
suburb.
DiGiacomo is saying that he is a Media Arts and Animation Major with the Art Institues. CNN states He recieved his Graphic Designer degree at Gibbs College. HIs postings on the Facebook site have many student and alumni up in arms over his rhetoric.
He states over and over that the Art Institues are involved in the current GAO investigation, but nowhere has the Art Institute name shown up other than a mention on The Colbert Report and that was to only give the country some examples of some for profit college.
This is a situation that indeed needs to be looked into further. With his claims of pending lawsuits against the Art Institutes and continued smear campaign of them on Facebook, needs further scrutiny as to the credibility of this individual. The fact that he is being deceptive should be cause enough to warrant investigation.
