The "N" Word

So Dr. Laura Schlessinger has called it quits on her 30 yr. radio career due to using the "N" word not once but multiple times while trying to get her point across to a caller who was black and married to a white man who was abusive verbally to her.  I did not hear the show, in fact, I had never heard of Dr. Schlessinger until this media blitz.

Personally I detest the "N" word and don't allow it in my life.  On the other hand, I don't understand why black people use it all the time.  It's an ugly word for sure, but why do black people insist that they can say it but non-blacks can't say it?  Freedom of speech?

Using any word for the sole purpose of hurting someone should not be tolerated by anyone.  I don't think when black people use the "N" word, that they are trying to hurt anyone, it seems to me that they are just trying to be "cool".  But, by being "cool" what message are they sending to young children of all races.  Many if not all rap songs contain the "N" word, children of all races love rap, watch movies, and have friends that may want to be "cool".

I hate to use the term "what's good for the goose is good for the gander", but, come on, lets get rid of the double standard.  The "N" word can be used by all, or by none.  I pick by none.
