Out of the Box, LLC is a Women-Owned Business operating in Clayton, North Carolina. Out of the Box, LLC is the inventor and manufacturer of the patent-pending, key (or cell phone) finding device called Charming KEYper. The dream child of Brooklyn born sisters and partners, Staci Douglas and Kim Mack. Raised in the projects of East New York by a full-time working Mom, having your keys was extremely important because there was no one at home to let you in. You were on your own.
After suffering job loss and financial instability, these sisters along with their families moved to NC from NJ in search for a better quality of life. Facing an economic downturn, there were only two options; quickly increase your income or decrease your expenses. The relocation to NC afforded the families some financial freedom to explore new opportunities.
Out of the Box, LLC first foray into the on-line retailing business with children's birthday parties was not proving as successful as they had hoped. One day after Kim witnessed Staci fish her keys out of the her bag by hanging a dirty broken D.A.R.E. lanyard out of her purse--an idea was born.
The two immediately got to work producing and testing many prototypes before the design was agreed upon. Kim's husband Tim began the long, pain-staking process of the Patent application. With a great design in hand and a patent pending, Kim hit her local market.
Not having a sales background could not deter her. Charming KEYper was introduced in February of 2009 to the Raleigh Marketplace. Kim quickly secured five new accounts. Presently, Out of the Box is represented by several sales groups nationwide and in Canada. With more than 100 retail shops carrying their line, they are well on they way to success. Charming KEYper will also be featured in the November-December issue of Solutions Catalog.
