I am getting very discouraged about the current religous turmoil brewing. I understand that the Islamic center will be near the twin tower site however, its like two blocks away. I have been to the site many times and there are tons of buildings around there so whats the problem. In my opinion, people are so afraid of what they dont understand that they are willing to persecute and judge people of that group. I know a lot of muslims and I know a lot of christians and the only thing that I can see a difference in is the clothing they wear. You see islam, contrary to what mainstream news networks portray, is not a violent religion. In fact violence is the last thing this religion would ever want and is only acceptable in self defense. No one is taught that if they blow their self up they go to heaven. I have a very difficult time thinking that Americans would feel such outrage if this were going to be a christian community center. I hope that by so much news coverage that people can take it upon themselves to learn the teachings of islam and understand that they are just like christians...in fact the only difference between the quran and the bible(as far as big views) is how islam views jesus. In the quran it is taught that jesus is only a messenger and not the son of god. I really hope that people can have some dignity and let people live and pray how they want where ever they want.
