This is swmustang91, this is my first iReport. The date is 25 August 2010. This report is a first-hand view of how college is, from a freshman student's point of view. Please me mindful of some minor language, I tend to keep it brief. I'm not being bias or inflammatory to anyone. I'm just telling situations as I see them. There is no insulting views I'm doing or any unethical standards.
It's morning here in Fort Worth, TX right now. What do I see? Sleek BMWs and Mercedes flash down Bellaire Dr. on the Texas Christian University. Yes, folks you hear that from me, this is THE famous Texas Christian University (TCU) campus. Home of the horned frogs. It isn't unusual, to see a line of BMWs or Ferrari zoom down the Bellaire and Stadium Dr intersection. I would have to say, at least, they could slow the fuck down. I mean this isn't Le Mans or the freaking Autobahn, you know. This is a college campus. I'm extremely cautious of this intersection right there, and I triple watch the crossing.
Aside from the "crossing", let me move on to another topic I want the general world to be aware of. Texas Christian University (TCU) is mostly comprised of rich upper class white students. That is real true fact, I'm not sugar coating any fact from the world or trying to be bias on my own right, but this is the whole truth, and so help me god this the undisputed truth. I do not see, why in this day and age, there isn't that much diversity here in this campus. I mean, it took until 1964 to finally end the segregation within this campus. I do not understand why there isn't that much diversity. I also do not understand why the tuition is so high here. I know, it is a prestigious university, but for more people to attend they could really lower the costs down. If you lower the costs down or provide more financial aid to minorities, you'll see more diversity within this campus.
One more aspect I'll cover before I end this report. Greek life. Yes, the frat and sorority houses...you get the idea. My dorm is within the center of the Greek housing. Practically its "party central" around my residence hall. When walking down a sidewalk, I would see broken beer bottles alongside and shattered glass. For upholding pious morals in Greek college life, they are not showing it with that little act. I would say, that students here who are in a frat or sorority have somewhat of a "I'm betting than you, get of my fucking way" attitude. I had notice that whenever I see them at the campus union or at in main courtyard. In my own personal view of them, they would be somewhat of in a world of them on and display a "holier than though" arrant attitude. But then again, isn't that in all campus. I'm sure, I'm not the only student who has seen this. I bet this same stuff occurs in USC, Notre Dame, Penn State, UT Austin. I do not attend those schools, but I'm pretty sure it occurs as well.
Finally, I end my iReport for 25 August 2010. I hope everyone here reading this has a good viewpoint from a non-white/and non-upper class student of college life at a prestigious, opulent university.
