Iran: Fired workers stage protest in Pakdasht
8/23/2010
Hambastegi Melli website, 21 August 2010 – Expelled workers of the Sazmaye Factory in Pakdasht staged a gathering outside the factory yard in Foroun Abad of Pakdasht, protesting and demanding their unpaid wages.
Workers blocked the road leading to the factory, causing heavy traffic in the region. Revolutionary Guards forces and intelligence agents were immediately dispatched to the scene to suppress and disperse the workers’ demonstration. Due to the fact that the factory’s management hasn’t been present at the factory for the past 10 days, the suppressive forces sealed the factory and told the workers that the factory was up for sale.
