Ten year old Marshall Reid continues his summer long project with the newest segment he coined "Portion Size Me: Start Your Day Out Right Breakfasts."
During his project of making choices to eat real foods, and video documenting it, he has dropped body mass index points, learned about processed foods, discovered that it makes him feel poorly to eat bad foods, and so much more. In this video installment he discuses the importance of eating local foods with regards to the large scale salmonilla egg recall currently under way.
As an aside, a couple of years ago our family fought our local city council to keep our chickens and won (after a year and a half battle). We had already had our chickens for three years, showed them at the local and state fairs and used them in 4-h projects. Although all our surrounding cities (including the Capital Raleigh) allowed chickens our little country town did not. It was a battle worth fighting and thank goodness we did given the current egg problem.
