As a graduate student studying an MBA at Wharton and an MA in Latin American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania's Lauder Institute, I was awarded a license by the Department of the Treasury in March 2010 to study entrepreneurship in Cuba, where entrepreneurship isn't supposed to exist. My two-week solo trip ended up being an incredibly unique cultural experience as I traveled by scooter through the tabacco fields of Western Cuba, went scuba diving in the Bay of Pigs, attended a Cuban playoffs baseball game, and rode penny buses through urban Cuba.
