ANARCHY AT ABA

These pictures were taken last Friday 17th September2010 after hoodlums massacred telecom operators at Aba in Abia state of Nigeria.
The victims which includes an Ericsson engineer, MTN Nigeria staff, 2 Mobile Policemen, a rigger and a contract security staff had gone to fix a fault at the Gabby Oil base station of the operator at Aba when local hoodlums swooped on them, shot down the rigger from a 35m mast and murdered the policemen in cold blood. For months, Aba in Abia state have completely been taken over by hoodlums who kidnap women, children and men for ransoms ranging from N50,000 to multi million naira. They rob and abduct victims in broad daylight sometimes in the full glare of an overwhelmed security forces. Women are raped repeatedly until their family members drop ransoms at designated locations. Policemen are routinely attacked, killed and disposed of their weapons. Banks are robbed on appointed days after due 'notification' by the rampaging hoodlums. Both the federal and state governments are paralyzed and government officials now move with bullet proof vehicles and military convoys. Most prominent citizens have fled into exile and the ones with the courage to remain behind are paying with their lives. A local medical doctor was abducted and his corpse returned to his family after over N3m was paid as ransom.
