This has been very disturbing to me.
But not for the reasons most of you think.
If you are expecting me to protest the building of any Mosque, think again.
During the majority of this issue, I also believed that wanting to build a Mosque at "ground zero" was insensitive, if not insulting.
But I have learned this has NOTHING to do with location.
If it was only about the building of a Mosque near ground zero, then why in Murfressboro,TN...Temecula, CA...and Sheboygan, WS are they also protesting to have Mosques built there?
Simply people are prejudice.
It almost seems a need in this country to have someone to hate.
For those of you who will say "I read this...or my minister said this...or a ex-Muslim said this" well as I've always been taught, consider the source.
If the places you are getting your info from would suffer either monetarily or from membership at the building the Mosque, or if money can be made off the fear of individuals, then the source would be compromised. And no longer viable.
As well as the word of any "reformed" Muslim who happens to be protesting the building of a Mosque too.
Mostly if they just so happen to be selling any sort of product. i.e. books or videos.
Which in this specfic issue, leaves very little opposition except for what is written within the Quran itself, or the actions of extremists.
But then again, pretty much every instance you can find in the Quran that support killing, I can also find within the Bible that supports killing.
I wouldn't put the two holy books in a face-off, neither will win!
And as far as extremists, NO religion holds the monopoly on that.
Or were "Army of God" and "Centennial Olympic Park bombing" (individuals of the groups "Christian Identity" and "Christian Patriot" movements were accused of being behind the bombing) just a fluke?
And just recently a Michigan Christian militia group called "Hutaree", had nine of its members indicted by a federal grand jury in Detroit on charges of "seditious conspiracy" to use of "improvised explosive devices".
So I guess because their "Christians", we should also protest all churches either already built or planned on being built?
