A vigil was held for Mitrice Richardson at the Lost Hills sheriffs dept. People gathered to honor this young woman on the anniversary of the night she went missing.
Ironically, that part of Malibu is named Lost Hills. It is in fact a dark, desolate area.
Mitrice Richardson disappeared on Sept 17th, 2009, after being released from the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station at approximately 1am., without transportation, a cell phone, or any type of identification. Mitirce was charged with 'Failure to pay an Inn Keeper' after she was unable to pay her bill at Geoffrey's Restaurant in Malibu.
Mitrice's remains were found on September 9th in Malibu Canyon only xx miles from the sheriff's dept. In treacherous terrain...she was discovered by park rangers looking for Marijuana groves.
There are many unanswered questions about the night that Mitrice went missing; what actually happened after she left the Malibu sheriff's station is still unclear. A civil law suit has been filed against the county of Los Angeles for wrongful death & negligence.
This was a peaceful vigil to honor a life unnecessarily lost. A non-profit organization will be started... "Justice for Mitrice is Justice for All", in hopes of changing the laws of late night releases, the handling of people with possible mental illness, & stopping senseless deaths from occurring.
The search for Mitrice is over but the search for the truth will continue on.
*I will continue my ongoing updates on the life... and untimely death of Mitrice.
