As of tonight, 09.21.10, Jupiter is directly in opposition of the Sun, on the other side of the Earth. Not since 1963, has Jupiter been this close to our planet and will not be this close again until 2022.
You can look to the western sky, about an hour after sunset to see the largest planet in our Solar System and is about 392 million miles away from us.
A bonus to this event is one of the brightest full moons, both a sight to see.
I took these photos from my drive way and have been working a few nights to get my settings just right. No special equipment, just a tripod, zoom lens and my Canon Rebel digital camera.
