Butte County D.A. Mike Ramsey Cannot by law authorize  a search warrant  As this story is saying Ramsey did .. How did Ramsey authorize a search warrant? That  Only can be done by a Judge authorizing a  search warrant ? How did Ramsey do so  ? if this story is correct  Ramsey is violating the law and rights of the people . .... The last time Mylima Allen spoke to an Ashley Furniture representative  in Chico, Allen said they could not locate records of her $12,000  furniture order she made two months ago. She explained, "They never  apologized, they never gave us any reason why they just kept giving us  the runaround and told us to talk to Ms. White who never was around and  who never called. We would go in, call and what can I say, this has  really messed everything up for us."

 

Allen should have moved into  her new home two months ago but with no furniture, she has not been  able to. And allen is not alone. Dozens of people have contacted Action  News with similar stories and they want to know where all their money  has gone.

 

Investigators from Shasta and Butte Counties swarmed  the Ashley Furniture Stores in Chico and Redding Tuesday, looking for  any evidence that could lead to criminal charges against the store's  franchise owner Robert Meyer. Meyer has since resigned from his  position.

 

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey authorized  the search warrant working alongside Butte County investigators and  Chico Police. Ramsey is investigating 26 complaints. Chico police  investigators are looking into more than 30 complaints.

 

Chico  Police Sgt. Rob Merrifield told Action News, "We have taken a number of  phone calls from potential victims. We are recording information and  looking into their allegations. At this point of investigation we  haven't been able to establish what's taking place but we are speaking  to quite a large number of people."

 

Ramsey plans to file felony  grand theft charges if he determines there was an intent to steal. The  corporation says it intends to make good on furniture orders but will  not issue any refunds.
