My name is Ellis Morales. I am married to Sgt. Joseph Morales and we have two handsome little boys. We are high school sweethearts from Clifton, NJ. My husband joined the US Army in March 2006, two months after our second son was born. Shortly after being assigned to his first duty stationed he deployed (July 2007-Oct 2008) and than we relocated to another unit and he deployed again (Oct 2009- Sept 2010). The war has affected our lives because my husband has hardly been home to enjoy being here to see his boys grow up. He's missed several first days of school, birthday, holidays, summer vacations, their sport games, loose teeth, and many more milestones. In 4 years, our youngest son (4yrs) has only been with him about 16 months because he's been coming and going. There have been many stressful, tearful, and sad times throughout both deployments, but we kept our trust in God and we knew we'd get through them. I am so proud of my husband for everything he does, its a tough job but someone has to do it! The war coming to an end will impact my life, greatly. Even though we're still at war in Afganistan, at least one war is over for now. So many young men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation; hopefully in time both wars can end. Deep down I know my husband will have to deploy again, I just pray it won't be anytime soon; his family would like him home too!
