My wife and I took a back gravel road off the beaten trail into the back of the Rockies yesterday. Moose, bear, goats, sheep. It was wild and beautiful with the first heavy snow of the year melting by mid day.
All nature seems ready for a rest. It's good to know these mountains are still protected from too many tourists and hikers.
Most of them who go in unprepared are killed while climbing or are eaten by grizzlies. In a way, nature will not be conquered totally by man. Our own follies will ensure she stay wild and free
for a little while longer anyway.
