If you have ever been to Chile, you can notice that we are a very proud nation.
Huasos, the men from the countryside, and Chinas who are Huasos companions, were the typical vision of the "Chile criollo"; the same vision that we like to show to the rest of the world nowadays when we talk about our customs.
During our national holiday, September 18th, we eat and drink. You can hear people shouting "C-H-I L-E" and we can't miss the cueca, our national dance. Here you can see the Huaso (the manly man with a hat) inviting the China (the smiling woman with a colourful dress) a "patita de cueca" (one dance), who after a few denials, accepts. This woman is a very coquettish. She smiles and looks at the man while the man follows her With the handkerchief, he tries to call her attention, like in a rodeo. This is a ritual to impress the woman, a romantic show given by our most characteristic of characters.
It doesn't matter where we are; we are going to enjoy our September 18th. Dancing, eating, and shouting “C-H-I". If you are in Chile, hope you enjoy the 18th, our bicentenary ...¡viva Chile!
