It was a summer day and everything was fine. That afternoon I went to my boyfriend’s house. I was waiting for him. When he finally arrived, we enjoyed watching the Viña del Mar Music Festival on TV, and then we watched a horror movie. Suddenly we heard a weird sound from the back part of the house and the floor started to move, at first slowly and then faster. We ran to the kitchen and just saw the shadow of my mother-in-law running to the main door. The movement didn´t stop and I could feel how the floor moved like the waves of the sea. The lights went out, and I was just asking for the end of this terrible nightmare. The minutes were an eternity, but when the earthquake finally finished there was absolute silence. Suddenly, people started to scream and cry. Darkness covered the whole night and our lives. The night never ended and the hours never passed.
At 7:00 a.m. I still didn´t have news from my family. I thought of running to my house, but it was dangerous with the chaos outside. Probably I could suffer an accident . . .
At 7:30 a.m. my boyfriend was trying the telephone in his house when we could hear a voice . . . it was my mom!! Thank God I could talk to her and everybody was fine.
The day started to appear and, while I was walking to my house, I saw some houses´ walls on the ground; some people had thrown out their broken televisions and other furniture or electric gadgets. It was a complete disaster. After that terrible experience, we were three days without electric energy. So when we could have access to the television and internet, it was amazing the huge chaos and disaster around our country. This was the worst experience that I could have in my life.
