One of the hidden and largely unknown gems of Nassau is Nirvana at Love Beach in the western part of New Providence.
Most of the visitors to Nassau stay in the downtown core. They shop for straw goods and imitation high fashion items at the straw market, or visit Atlantis on Paradise Island across the harbor.
If you are looking for a quiet beach experience with superb snorkeling, a tranquil atmosphere and a colorful tropical experience, then you must take in Love Beach.
The venue has a restaurant, water sport rental facility and a superb reef just yards offshore.
Nirvana was a nightclub on the beach that had closed for a long time. The owners are re-making it into a beach destination, while still retaining the tropical nightclub experience at night. The restaurant walls are covered with black and white vintage photos of island performers.
There are two great things about Love Beach. The first is that it is largely undiscovered by tourists. The second, is that for surfers, the breakers offshore offer the best surfing in New Providence.
Me -- I prefer to sit in the colorful chairs in the shade of a palm tree, sipping on a Kalik and just cogitating on the emerald sea. That to me is Nirvana
