As a mom of a U.S. Marine that has already served in Iraq and leaving in less than 2 months for Afghanistan I have very mixed feelings about the last brigade combat team leaving Iraq. I have friends who are saying good-bye to their sons as they leave for Iraq today and I am glad things are quieter there right now, but I fear the country has a false sense of hope that the war is over. It is not over (in my opinion) and we don't need to get too complacient because we don't know how things will change once most of our military guys are gone. We could be back full force (it's my hope we won't) so we have to be sitting on GO just in case. I'm so proud that so many are back home and all the while so sad my son leaves again to a much more dangerous place. It's very hard to know if I'm happy or scared at this point. I suppose time will certainly tell. Thank you to all our service men and women for their service!
