School imitates Life.

Students turn into employees and the class becomes their workplace. Each employee sets work week goals, creates presentations using the most up-to-date software, has an opportunity to be the office manager and interview with potential employers.

This “students meet real life” activity is one example of the innovative "Adopt-A-Grant" projects provided by financial underwriters through the Virginia Beach Education Foundation.   It is one of many projects designed by dedicated teachers looking for new opportunities to engage young people and enrich the learning experiences of Virginia Beach public school students.

To make this project a reality for First Colonial High School students in Virginia Beach, Va.,

The Project Director, Janet Kreider (a teacher), along with her team of Caroline Myers, Joyce Ingledue, David Frazier, used a $500 VBEF grant, which was made possible by the Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation.
