It's day 5 of the Boulder wildfire and so far 169 houses have been burned to the ground, thousands of residents evacuated and the City of Boulder is bracing itself for a major evacuation if the winds gain strength and push the fire towards the city limits!
The amazing airmen flying the tankers and helicopters have been working long hours dumping water and retardant on the blaze. Every five minutes a pair of helicopters swoop out of the fire zone and drop behind my house to suck water from the Wonderland Lake and then they rise up into the air laden with their precious cargo and buzz off to dump it on the fire in the mountains.
