On Thursday September 9, 2010 while covering a protest in San Francisco I took notice to some clouds or smoke in the sky that did not seem normal. So I jumped in my Jeep and drove straight to the huge fireball. When I arrived on the scene somewhere around Bay Hill Road people in neighborhood were in a state of panic. I was literally right on top of the inferno. The video shows where the fuel source was located and the devastation the explosion and subsequent fire caused to many homes. So far there has only been one fatality reported, but many are injured.
I've covered many fires, but this one was raw. The people, the families, the police and the firefighters seemed overwhelmed. The neighborhood where I captured this footage was being evacuated when I arrived. The power was out.
