Some of you may know, and some of you may not. My high school was devastated by an EF4 tornado back at the beginning of June. It not only high my high school, but it took out over 160 homes, and as of last week, we have lost 7 souls as well. Graduation for the 2010 class was due to walk the next afternoon, and the valedictorian's father was also killed in this storm.
These are up updated photos of my high school. We have been denied twice by FEMA, and the insurance companies seem to think that something salvageable is somewhere in this mess. We are short money, bigtime, to rebuild. The government, of course, has let us down. All of the proper channels were followed to request help. Now us, the alumni and the faculty, along with bordering schools and parents, and trying in vain to raise money ourselves so we can have a school.
I hope this doesn't get removed. If it does, at least I can say I tried. We are currently in a contest that Kohl's is running, to win 500K for our high school. We need this more than you can imagine, thanks to FEMA and the insurance companies. There are also four school on the "top schools" list that is "buying" voted by using Swagbucks. This is far from a fair game.
