Enbridge Kalamazoo Oil Spill - Update 9th of Sept.

I have apparently ticked off the powers that be in the Embridge company... My husband and I have been taking turns at picture taking as I can no longer stand the smell on the bridge and as the workers will now yell ' Photographer on the bridge if they see me."

It is not just the smell on the bridge,  I can no longer handle cleaning supplies I use to use around the house,  the smell of gas, etc etc.

But yesterday I walked down to the store... I checked the wetlands on the opposite side of the river and found a log with turtles sitting on top...  black on bottom and algae covered on top...

I walk back from the store along the new drain that was installed ... yep the water is gone for the most part but it has left stained rocks... but I find live toads (frogs?) that is a good sign.

We have also been visited by some type of tree frogs which have been climbing up the tree outside my door... I have been here 3 years and never seen them... I suspect they are migrating from the river and wetlands..  We have more disappearing cats and think coyote's may be attacking. But the birds have not returned.

We also had a visit from the county health department and EPA.  A couple of weeks ago the head of district 5 of the EPA visited  (Susan Hedman)... I and a few residents asked why they didn't check inside our homes... she said that they would and several EPA agents arrived from Chicago...   They walked around the homes  and test outsidet first... Then they enter your home after putting on white booties... An alarm goes off as he enters  and goes throughout our house.... hmmm scary.

I ask them about results and they say they will send to us something in the mail...  7-10 days...

Spoke to several of the residents... some just had alarms go off in their bedrooms... some throughout .. It will be interesting to see the results.

So to Susan Hedman and EPA crew... Thank You...   Health department crew... thank you.. and by the way the bird lady 9 homes further away from the river lost her 3rd bird... so if you can speed up that report I would appreciate it.

And to my friend that is upset that the congressman on the radio talked about the oil spill and not the historical tour of Marshall.  Sorry, but human lives are in the balance.  He needs to do his job.. protecting the humans.
