.......Today is the last day of Ramadan and as a result of enormous international pressure/condemnation and perhaps in accordance with the spirit of freedom and human rights the supreme court of Iran suspended yesterday the stoning to death of Sekineh Mohamadie-Astiani who had been, (falsely according to many) convicted of adultery and implicated in the death of her husband.
Last Saturday evening, 09/04, more than 1,000 people attended a Ramadan feast held in the Louvre Museum in Paris to celebrate both the holiday and focus attention on the plight of Sekineh and the political repression which exists in Iran and the Iranian community living in exile in Camp Achraf.

Strong French support calling for the release of Sekineh has come from Bernard Kouchener, Carla Bruni (French President Sarkozy's wife, Liberation newspaper).
