Can Money Buy Happiness?

In our collapsed economy where rampant greed at the top of major corporations in the form of excessive salaries and bonuses being paid regardless of job performance the question of how much is too much has risen.  In many of the troubled or failing corporations, particularly in the financial and insurance sectors it became obvious that those who occupied top positions within a corporation used that position to skim the assets away from the companies they ran into their own pockets legally robbing those assets in the form of salaries and bonuses.

Millions of dollars were skimmed to support lavish lifestyles that few Americans can even imagine, but can money buy happiness?  Well, the National Academy of Sciences did a study on just that to answer the question of just how much money is enough to buy happiness.  According to the NAS money can indeed buy you happiness once your earnings reach the $75,000.00 a year level.  However, the study also found that after reaching that 75K amount earnings surpassing that level more money did little to contribute to happiness, but shifted to provide greater feelings of well-being because earnings above the $75K level removed the worry of financial security.  So in the final analysis, money can buy you happiness, but the Beatle's had it right when they said in a song, "Money can't buy you love."
