With thousands of clicks per day, TagAnIdiot.com reports that Massachusetts drivers hold the top spot of driver's license plates being tagged on the internet. While recently launched, "traffic on TagAnIdiot.com continues to grow from week to week, and interest in what's being said about plates is clearly increasing," said one developer working on TagAnIdiot.com. "Our intent with the site was to create a forum for individuals to sound-off on people they think have acted inappropriately. Any license plate owner who wishes to remove their plate from our system may do so by verifying they own the plate," a process of sending a picture of their plate to the admin's on the site.
As the internet grows, so do concerns over privacy and what is being loaded on the world wide web. FaceBook.com's ongoing woes have them continuously changing structure as well as forming teams to handle their own onslaught of concerned users. In their own place on the internet, TagAnIdiot.com developers reference several cases where license plates/privacy concerns have been heard in court with consistent outcomes of "no reasonable expectation of privacy can be had when the individual's license plate is freely being displayed in public and on their vehicle." Developers also add that "we do not cross-reference license plates with any source to get personal information. The comments on our site are opinions of those that made them, and in no way represent our opinion on any individual." They added "when notified, we are swift to remove any inappropriate or personal information that's posted."
