As many of us know, the climate has been undergoing significant changes due to the global warming phenomenon, species in the many ecosystems around the world must adapt to the new realities or face extinction.
In a sense, humans have to adapt as well, not only to global climate change, but to the global recession. The Great Depression of the 20th Century was only ended by the economic opportunities that came from World War II. I propose a peaceful and constructive alternative to resolve this economic turmoil, instead of a destructive war that depopulates the world. Sure, a World War III would to fuel economic activity while also killing off competition, but I'm sure humanity can find another solution than to destroy ourselves along with the world.
My Proposal:
Global Warming has melted the ice caps and glacier sheets in vast regions of both Arctic and the Antarctic. A constructive alternative is to contract unemployed and willing people to colonize and settle in the Arctic territories and Antarctica. Such an initiative should be taken collaboratively with the relevant countries and international bodies to make it orderly and cooperative. However, such Artic/Antarctic settlements/colonies will generate jobs in construction, business/commerce, tourism, healthcare, education, and government/administration, and many more sectors and industries.
