I was in D Troop 10th Cav, 3rd BDE 3rd ID, we crossed the Kuwait/Iraqi border on March 20th 2003 and Spearheaded the assault towards Baghdad. Not only was I there but my brother who was part of 4th ID that came behind us to go north of Baghdad and do his mission. I wasn't born in this country but have lived her my entire life and consider this my country. Knowing the (possible) danger that we faced we did our mission and made sure we all came back home. It was hard on our families and I will always share that bond with all my fellow brothers in uniform. But I want people to understand that just because combat operations are finished in Iraq that doesn't mean that these soldiers won't get deployed again. While this war has been forgotten by many but know and understand that these soldiers will now be deployed to the battle fields of Afganistan and again they will have to make even more sacrifices.
Lets not forget that we enjoy our freedom because they are men and women defending them.
