Shofuso. An authentic replica of a 17th century Shoin-style Japanese house and garden. It was built in 1953 and given as a gift from Japan to the U.S. for the Museum of Modern Art. The house was then relocated to Philadelphia in 1958. Since its the only house of its kind outside of Japan, visiting it feels like taking a travel back in time. I especially love how they keep the visitor's habits so authentic by not allowing shoes to be worn inside!
