We are missionaries in France since 1976. Without a doubt this country has one of the smallest percentages of Christians in the world. That is the canvas, now the painting. There was a considerable backlash to Americans and, as a result, there are probably fewer Americans in France than in any time in recent history. Many Americans have told us, "Let the French go to hell." That is exactly what we are trying not to do. We are French in most ways but still American in heart. The consequences? We live in a no-man's-land.
