I live in Chatan, Okinawa, which is located on the west coast of the mainland very close to Camp Foster. Currently, we are at "TCCOR 1 Caution," which means that winds are currently at 34-49 knots but are expected to reach 50 knots or greater within 12 hours.
I work at the U.S. Consulate General in Urasoe, and we were told to stay home today. The day started off clear and sunny, but the wind started picking up and the rain hit around 2:30 pm, local time. It is now 4:30 pm, and the wind is deafening. I live on the 6th floor of a concrete building located just a block from the sea wall. While the ocean in this area is normally very calm, the ocean is now dotted with white caps.
