What Job Shortage?

On every news network across the nation you will hear about unemployment rates going up,and more people out of work. Here in Kentucky things are no different as far as statics go, but I believe I have a story.

During the past three weeks I have noticed a few things. There are plenty of jobs out there for people who want to work. Right here in Columbia Kentucky you can find a job quickly. Here are some cases to look at;

1. 39 year old woman quits one job. Within 48 hours she was training for her new job. A week later she was offered yet another job. Now the woman quit McDonalds, and went to work for a major grocery store. She was offered another job at a local dollar store. Her wage $7.40 per hour.

2. 18 year old male, quits one job literally walks across the street and goes to work the next day at another job, with an advancement in duties and pay. He left the same McDonalds, and went to work at a local chicken joint known as SpyStreet. He also has been offered another job in a local body shop. His wage $7.40 per hour.

3. A 23 year old woman still working in one job has taken another job just across the street. Now she has 2 jobs. her wage $7.25 and $7.85 per hour.

This is not a fluke, this is a trend. Local chicken processing plants are hiring. A major clothing manufacturer Friut of The Loom is hiring, Amazon.com is hiring. Most all fast food joints are hiring.

If a person can't find work, I submit it is because the jobs they can find they feel are beneath them. "Oh I can't make my bills on $7.25 an hour" This I-Reporter wants to know how does that $0.00 an hour make your bills?

Labor jobs can still be found, but everyone want to be a boss, a director, or a sit down job as a supervisor. Someone has to do the labor, and people who are willing to work the labor jobs are snapping them up like candy, while big wig wanna bes are starving because they are too proud to make a burger, or scan a grocery item.

I submit there is not a shortage of jobs, but rather a shortage of people willing to actually work.
