The Big Island of Hawaii (otherwise known as Hawaii Island) is the only one that has live volcanoes. Although I did not see eruptions, I saw lava flowing down the lava fields, forming lava tubes or just adding to the island before solidifying as it made contact with the ocean's water. The scenery was phenomenal, offering us to witness the creation of new land, new coastline and, in time, new black lava beaches. Some pictures were taken while flying in a doors-off helicopter, others, at close encounter with the slow-moving lava, its temperature reaching thousands F degrees temperature.
