Through Tweeter, Facebook, and his latest son, “Jail for the CEP” (Prizon Pou KEP a) Wyclef’s multiple adventures seeking his reintegration into the electoral course prove that he is like Alice “Through the Looking Glass” hoping any road he takes would lead him to any kind of victory.
To Wonderland, Alice followed a talking White rabbit until she fell into a hole; to contest his disqualification, Wyclef followed a council of eight attorneys until he fell into a hole of which the same attorneys promise to get him out.
The outcome was Alice got out of the hole whereas there is no visible hope that the lawyers would not dig the hole deeper for Wyclef.
In Wonderland, Alice was accused of stealing the Queen’s Tarts. In Haiti Wyclef is accused of not following the provisions of article 135 of the Haitian constitution.
The upshot was that there were procedures for Alice to follow to prove before the King , the Queen, and the jury of animals that she indeed did not steal the tarts whereas in Wyclef’s case, there is no set of procedures in place to contest his eviction from the presidential campaign trail
In the absence of procedures on electoral issues, Wyclef stated that he would hold the Inter American Commission of Human Rights (ICHR), the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (Cour Supérieure Des Comptes et du Contentieux Administratif) (CSC/CA), and the Supreme Court as jurisdictional entities who should have competences to hear his case.
The issue with Wyclef’s newest adventures is that neither the ICHR nor the CSC/CA has competences to quorum on electoral issues because (1) the ICHR, as an arbitrary and advisory court, only hears claims of violations of human rights and (2) the CSC/CA, on electoral matters, is solely responsible to provide discharges to candidates who had held or are still holding federal deniers.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court (1) knows only of unconstitutionality of law on electoral issues and (2) the tribunals of the CEP are parallel and disparate entities of the normal Haitian judiciary system, which give them full power to decide without possibilities of recourse.
Alice was woke up by sister at the end of her voyage to realize it was just a dream whereas Wyclef will come to grasp that he should as Maxime Danton said “When the powerful man realizes he no longer has power to change things, he uses his serenity to keep his mouth shut if he wishes for the world to hear him again.”
In Alice in Wonderland 2010, Alice made the Mad Hatter do a crazy dance after they defeated the Red Queen except Wyclef already wrote the song he would dance to in the event he would sway judges and jurists to decide in his favor.
Wyclef should follow Snoop Dogg’s advice “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
